Update the HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor on Windows

Please check these three things:

• MetaTrader 5 is open.
• The chart where the current HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor is running is open.
• You have not removed the old Expert Advisor yet.

Take your time. Each step uses plain menu names from MetaTrader 5.

This step saves your Journal key and other inputs to a small file on your computer. You will load that file into the new Expert Advisor later.

1. Go to the chart where the HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor is running.
2. Right-click anywhere on the chart.
3. Click Expert List.
4. Click the HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor in the list (it may show as HybridTrader_Journal).
5. Click Properties.
6. Open the Inputs tab.
7. You should see your settings, including the API Key field. That field holds your HybridTrader Journal key.
8. Click Save.
9. Save the file somewhere easy to find — for example your Desktop or Downloads folder.
   Suggested name: HybridTrader_Journal_Sync_Settings.set

Only do this after Step 1 is finished and you know where your saved settings file is.

1. Right-click on the same chart again.
2. Click Expert List.
3. Select the old HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor.
4. Click Remove.

The old Expert Advisor is now off the chart. Your saved settings file still has your key.

Download the new version using the Windows button at the top of this page, then copy the .ex5 file into your MetaTrader Experts folder.

• Unzip HybridTrader_Journal_Sync.zip and copy HybridTrader_Journal_Sync.ex5. Follow Section 3 — Installation in the main guide if you need the full copy steps.
• If you are updating on macOS, use the dedicated Mac update guide.

After copying the file, refresh Expert Advisors in Navigator. If the installation steps say to restart MetaTrader 5, do that before Step 4.

1. Open the chart you want to use (one chart is enough — see the main guide).
2. In the Navigator panel, find the new HybridTrader Journal Sync Expert Advisor (Ctrl + N opens Navigator if you do not see it).
3. Drag the new Expert Advisor onto the chart.
4. The settings window opens. Go to the Inputs tab — do not click OK yet.

1. On the Inputs tab, click Load.
2. Choose the settings file you saved in Step 1 — for example HybridTrader_Journal_Sync_Settings.set.
3. Click Open (or OK in the file picker).
4. Check that the API Key field is filled in. That means your Journal key loaded correctly.
5. Click OK to close the settings window.

The new Expert Advisor should now be on your chart with the same key as before.

Please confirm all of these:

• The Expert Advisor is attached to the chart (smiley icon on the chart is a good sign).
• AutoTrading is turned on in the MetaTrader toolbar (the button should look active / green).
• The API Key field still shows your key if you open Properties again.
• In Terminal, open the Experts tab. There should be no red error lines. A normal start message looks like HybridTrader Journal Expert Advisor active and monitoring.

If something looks wrong, read the troubleshooting section in the main guide, or contact support with a copy of the Experts tab text.

All steps in order:

1. Open the old Expert Advisor settings → Inputs tab.
2. Click Save and remember where the file is.
3. Remove the old Expert Advisor from the chart.
4. Install the new Expert Advisor file (download + copy to Experts folder).
5. Drag the new Expert Advisor onto your chart.
6. On Inputs, click Load and pick your saved file.
7. Check the API Key field is filled in.
8. Click OK.
9. Turn on AutoTrading and check the Experts tab.

• Do not remove the old Expert Advisor before saving. That is the most common mistake.
• If you forgot to save, you can paste your Journal key by hand into the API Key field instead of using Load. Need a key? Use the MT5 Journal key request form.
• You do not need to repeat the one-time Allow WebRequest step unless MetaTrader was fully reinstalled.
• Keep using one chart only — same as the main guide.
